Affiliate disclosure
Right now, nothing on this site earns us money. We are not enrolled in any affiliate program. Every outbound link you see today is a plain citation — we linked it because we read a fact on that page, not because we get paid if you click.
What will change, and how you will know
The plan is to join affiliate programs with Australian camping retailers. When that happens, some links on this site will earn us a small commission if you buy through them.
You will not have to guess which ones. On any page with a commercial link, there will be a clear notice above the first link, before you reach it. Not buried in the footer, not in small grey text at the bottom of the page.
What a commission does not change
- The price you pay. A commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your wallet. You pay the same as anyone else.
- What we recommend. Our call on the 9 quart being the sensible family size was made before any program existed, from how retailers band the sizes. If joining a program would change a recommendation, that is the recommendation we would keep and the program we would drop.
- Which shops we mention. We name the shop where we read a spec, including small shops that will never have an affiliate program.
Why we say this so plainly
Under Australian Consumer Law, a commercial relationship behind a recommendation has to be disclosed clearly — you should not be able to mistake an ad for independent advice. Beyond the legal minimum, it is simply how we would want a site to treat us.
If you ever find a link on this site that earns us something without a notice above it, that is a mistake and we want to hear about it. Contact us.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment to review or rank a product.
- We do not publish sponsored posts.
- We do not use “review” markup or star ratings for products we have not used.
- We do not quote a commission rate or an income figure anywhere, because we do not have one to quote.
To update when we join a program: name each program on this page, say what kind of commission it pays, and add the notice template to every commercial page. Until then this page stays honest by saying there is nothing to disclose.
